The Festival of Nations

Published by Jason at 8:38 pm under Things to Do

She and I took a late-afternoon trip down to Deering Oaks Park to catch the tail end of the Fifth Annual Festival of Nations on Saturday. The event ran from 2:00 pm – 8:30 pm, and we get there around 6:30 or so. I think we came too late. By the time we arrived, several of the vendors had started or finished packing up, and the crowd had thinned considerably. We did manage to find some good food–I had a chicken gyro and She had some West Indies-style curried chicken. We also hung out for a while and watched the band. It was a good time, but I’m not sure I’d be terribly upset if we weren’t around for the Sixth Annual Festival next year.

I did snap a couple of fun pictures at the festival and in the park. I was fortunate enough to be sitting right behind a woman having a ball with two of her adoptive children, and I managed to catch a fun one of a man walking on his hands down by the park pond. I also grabbed a shot of the band. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the name of the band, but they had a pretty good beat. These pictures are part of our “In and Around Portland” photoset.
