<description>Hello! I just came across your blog and have enjoyed reading through it. I saw your post on Bushmills and thought I'd forward along an email we got today about the state of the contest. Keep voting everyone!

"Hi there , As you probably already know from my last email and local press, Portland is one of 3 finalists in a competition to be named Bushmills “Twin City” in America. This is part of Bushmills 400th anniversary celebration. (Boston &#38; Louisville are the other 2).

In addition to getting $40,000 split between So Maine SOS (fighting childhood hunger in Maine &#38; responsible drinking campaigns, the winning city will be part of a massive nationwide marketing campaign by Bushmills Irish Whiskey.)

What you may NOT know is that after some initial online vote processing problems, Bushmills changed the rules….now anyone can vote as many times as they like!

Here’s the key change they made: After you vote, it takes you to a page to register for a sweepstakes.

You DO NOT have to fill it out the form in order for your vote to count.

Voting is very simple….just check the box for Portland, then type in the characters as shown in the box at the bottom of the page. Then click “vote”.

Then just hit “back” on your browser, refresh the screen &#38; vote again. You can easily vote 50-60 times in just twenty minutes. Now I know you don't have tons of time to put into this -- but as they say, every vote counts. Please do all that you can. We can't ask for more than that.

VOTE STATUS:
As of this Monday we were trailing Louisville 55% to 28%. 3 days later, it’s down to 50% and 33% (Boston is at 17%). If more people vote for 20 minutes a day, we will win easily. The voting ends Monday at Midnight, so there are only a few days left don’t waste a day!

Here is the URL to vote: http://t.lt01.net/c.asp?5TfxrlzrBrjlcEry2KSSEgJvYbLCLIqFqIZFCIDpj9cw

Final notes: Sometimes it’s hard to get the characters correct (the zero &#38; “O” look similar, etc). If you get an “error” message, just try again…it will give you a different code to enter. Also, remember to check the “Portland” box every time!

Thank you very much for helping SOS. We are determined to win and use this money to help fight childhood hunger in Maine.

(Also, information about this year's Taste of the Nation is forthcoming. We are on Cow Island, June 22, 2008. The Sunday after Father's Day. Great chefs, incredible venue, exceptional fun. We hope you will save the date join us.) "</description>
