Free Iced Coffee Day

While walking through Monument Square yesterday, I saw some sand artists sculpting a giant iced coffee in celebration of Dunkin’ Donuts’ Free Iced Coffee Day (which is today). I just had to snap a picture. The free coffee offer ends at 10:00 PM, so you still have time.

Spring is Sprung

The flowers are in bloom. Amber and I slept with the bedroom window open last night for the first time this year. Our afternoon walk with the dog found me feeling a little too warm with a short-sleeved shirt and long pants. Of course, it’s raining again today…but we’ll take it. Welcome spring!

It’s Not Gone Yet

It was 72°F on Friday. The sun was shining. And there was still some snow on the ground in Evergreen Cemetery. Yay Maine!

I found a pretty cool Library of Congress photoset of 1940s airplanes taking off and landing at the CAP Base in Bar Harbor. I wanted to share one of my favorites from the set. According to the CAP website, there is no longer a squadron based in Bar Harbor, so this is a fun look back in time.

Ha ha ha ha. Portland is a little more gentrified than this, but Windsor is only 65 miles from here. Keep going north from there and things get even more interesting…

I’m not entirely sure where in Maine this was taken, but it is a pretty accurate depiction of what the weather has been like lately. Snow followed by rain last week, and then warmer weather with pea-soup fog this week. Walking the dog through Evergreen Cemetery yesterday morning was a bit eery…imagine gravestones instead of swing sets.

There’s Some Snow Out There!

It’s tough to tell from this angle, but the mound of snow in the parking lot next door to us is almost as tall as that Volkswagen. And it’s only January 3! We’re gonna run out of room to put the stuff pretty soon. See a couple more shots from my kitchen window in this Flickr photoset.
